There are quite a few diseases that can leave a Los Angeles resident disabled and unable to work to earn an income. Cancer and heart disease are some of the most common illnesses that can diminish a person’s ability to remain in the workforce, but there are other diseases that can be equally debilitating. A range of blood diseases are in this category. So, what are some of the most common blood diseases?

Hemophilia and anemia are likely to be among the blood diseases that our readers have heard of before. Hemophilia is a condition where an individual’s blood does not clot like it should due to a genetic defect. As a result, if a person who suffers from hemophilia suffers an injury or cut that leads to bleeding, the bleeding can actually become quite excessive and very difficult to stop. This can put a person’s life in danger.

Anemia, according to one source, is the most common blood disorder in America, with a reported three million people suffering from this condition. This disease can develop over time, due to a wide range of factors. But, for those who are diagnosed with this condition, the main problem is that oxygen does not circulate in the blood like it is supposed to, and as a result a person with this condition may oftentimes feel weak or dizzy, or have headaches or chest pain. The symptoms can be different for everyone.

Although hemophilia and anemia are the most common blood diseases, there are many more. Los Angeles residents who suffer from a blood disease and who are unable to work as a result may want to get more information on whether or not they qualify to receive Social Security disability benefits.
