What are some of the most well-known illnesses covered by SSD?

There are so many illnesses in the world today that it can be hard for Californians to keep track of them all. Some of the most well-known illnesses, like cancer and heart disease, are well-known for a certain reason: they are among the leading causes of death for Californians. These illnesses are the subject of a variety of public awareness campaigns, as both government entities and non-profit organizations attempt to garner more awareness of what it takes to avoid or detect these illnesses.

So, what are some of the most well-known illnesses that may qualify a Los Angeles resident to receive Social Security Disability benefits? There are, quite frankly, many illnesses listed by the Social Security Administration.

Some of our readers may not recognize the illness known as "Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis," but they probably do recognize its more common moniker: "ALS," also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease." This neurological condition will almost certainly lead to near-complete disability and eventually, death.

Another common illness is early-onset Alzheimer's disease. This illness is obviously derived from the Alzheimer's disease that many elderly people experience, except that it occurs much earlier than it normally would.

A diagnosis of cancer, heart disease, ALS or any other of a number of well-known diseases can put a Los Angeles resident in shock. These are serious, and oftentimes fatal, illnesses. The financial burden associated with these illnesses can also be overwhelming. Anyone who suffers from one of these well-known illnesses may be able to qualify to receive SDD benefits, and the approval process will usually be much quicker.
