There have been many areas of uncertainty with regards to the government following President Trump’s inauguration. Whether or not you like him, the fact remains that he brings with him a completely new set of questions. These are undeniably uncharted territories for the United States, its people, and its politicians, and as his presidency enters its first 100 days, many are starting to get an idea how his presidency may turn out.
One of the concerns for many are his stances and actions, and lack of actions, with regards to Social Security. No one knows how this will all play out, but many are concerned with the appointment of Mick Mulvaney as Director of the Office of Management and Budget, who has previously stated that he wants to apply cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
In addition, this administration has put a hiring freeze on the Social Security Administration, as well as many other departments of the government. The administration addressed this specifically on a recent blog, assuring the American people that despite their situation, they will do their best to serve all who rely on Social Security Disability to survive, despite the hiring freeze and recent additional budget cuts.
It remains to be seen how this administration will handle Social Security, and whether or not their decisions will impact those already collecting benefits or those who will need benefits in the future. The one thing that it can tell us, however, is that if you believe you qualify for Social Security disability, there is no better time than now to apply.
