When Los Angeles residents suffer injuries that leave them disabled and unable to work, their heads are probably spinning from worrying over their financial concerns. The primary concern for many people who are unable to work due to a disability is quite simple: How will I take care of my living expenses? When the questions start adding up, Los Angeles residents will begin to look for answers. So, where can they look?
The federal government attempts to make sure that people who are living with a disability have resources they can access to determine whether they can apply for Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits. There are two main websites that have quite a bit of information about the process: the Social Security Administration website and Disabilty.gov.
Disability.gov, in particular, has a “Guide to Disability Benefits” section that can walk Los Angeles residents through the many questions they will likely have, if they are contemplating applying for SSD benefits. Some of the most basic topics are addressed, such as how many work credits a person needs in order to qualify for SSD benefits, as well as what options are available if an initial application for benefits is denied.
A Los Angeles resident who is living with a disability shouldn’t feel dissuaded from applying for SSD benefits just because they do not have the answers to their questions. Chances are that the information these individuals are looking for is out there, if they look in the right places.
