Military veterans will get disability applications expedited

There is no denying that the process of applying for Social Security Disability benefits can be tedious as times, especially when it seems like it is taking forever to get a determination. And, when someone is denied Social Security benefits the process of appealing the decision can make the whole ordeal take even longer. However, as the whole country gets ready to celebrate our nation’s military veterans on Memorial Day, the acting commissioner of Social Security recently announced an initiative that should help many people who are currently involved in the Social Security determination process.

According to a recent report, applications for SSD benefits that are submitted by many military veterans will go through an expedited process. This should not only help those veterans who are dealing with a complete inability to work due to disabilities, but the fact that our nation puts such an emphasis on helping those individuals who have volunteered to serve our country should make the rest of us proud.

The expedited process will reportedly apply to veterans who suffer from either physical or mental disabilities. While the news coverage of our nation’s two most recent wars has focused a great deal on the thousands of military service members who return home with complete physical disabilities, there has been less coverage of the mental disabilities that many of these men and women suffer from their time in the service.

Going through the process of applying for SSD benefits can seem daunting at times. It is great to see that many people who are involved in the process will get faster decisions on whether or not they meet the requirements to receive this important source of financial aid.
