Schizophrenia Claims
Schizophrenia is named on the SSA’s listing of impairments. It is a complex illness, and much of the diagnosis is based on observations. We can ensure that proper medical documentation is provided for SSA to accurately review the medical evidence. As an applicant, you must provide a documented history of schizophrenia for a minimum of two years as well as statements and evidence of the effect it has had on your inability to hold a job.
Even relatively mild cases of schizophrenia can cause a person to have trouble with social interactions, be unable to concentrate for any length of time and suffer from incoherent thought patterns. Severe cases include symptoms of paranoia, catatonia, delusions and hallucinations.
PTSD Claims
The SSA categorizes post traumatic stress disorder as an anxiety disorder. The applicant must meet anxiety disorder criteria, and his or her medical records should describe a doctor’s observation of the applicant’s anxiety reaction. These reactions can include panic attacks, flashbacks to the traumatizing event, severe fear of event recurrence, avoidant behavior and restlessness.
