Personalized Attention From An

Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) can rob you of your energy, health and independence, and even lead to death. If you are suffering from serious health problems due to CKD, we at the Disability Rights Law Center will work with you to qualify for Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) benefits to help make up for your lost income. Our attorney, Alex Boudov, has practiced SSDI law in Los Angeles, California, since 1999.

What Is CKD?

Chronic kidney disease is a condition in which the kidneys stop working properly. Healthy kidneys filter fluid and waste from the blood. Kidneys affected by CKD cannot do this, so these substances accumulate in the body.

CKD And Deadly Complications

CKD often does not cause symptoms on its own, but can lead to severe illnesses, including:

  • Kidney failure/end-stage renal disease
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Anemia
  • High blood pressure
  • Fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Swollen legs

Once diagnosed with CKD, you may require regular dialysis, potentially limiting your ability to work full time. Of course, any of the complications listed above can also make continuing to work impossible. Fortunately, if CKD has forced you to give up your job, you may be entitled to substantial SSD benefits to make up much of your lost income.
